Dwelling

Dwelling is a series of salt prints that is derived from images of huts and other rough and ready Human habitats taken over a number of years in Germany. The originally captured scenarios are a mere starting point for this series as all images are heavily manipulated in Photoshop - including artificial intelligence - before they became converted into salt prints.
The works in this series combine cutting edge digital capture and image manipulation with salt printing, the oldest photographic process on paper, presented by William Henry Fox Talbot in 1839. It investigates how we read so called alternative processes and what perceptions and preconceived ideas about the medium we bring to the photographic image.
